February 14, 1920 - February 25, 2009

John Planavsky 89 years passed away on Wednesday morning, February 25, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was predeceased by his sister, Anna Patak.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Anna (Hores) Planavsky; two sons, Thomas (Linda) Planavsky Sr. and John Paul (Lavon) Planavsky all of Sanitaria Springs; four grandchildren, Kristine Marie Planavasky, Thomas (Tammy) Planavsky Jr., Michelle (Dale) Conklin and James John (Malissa) Planavsky; five great grandchildren, Thomas III, Jason, Mercedes, Gaven, and Raigen Planavsky; his faithful companion dogs, Dallas and Jacob; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
John loved nature, farming, gardening, and feeding the birds.
He was formerly a self-employed farmer for thirty-five years. He was a retired warehouse manager for Binghamton Agway. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a life member of the Joseph P. Mangan Post #1194 American Legion Post (Hillcrest), Past County American Legion Commander, member and Past Grand Chef de Gare of La Societe des Quarente Hommes at Huit Chevaux (40 & 8), and a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Monday 10am with Sister Fredrica Dunn, Spiritual Care Nurse with Our Lady of Lourdes Hospice officiating at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Burial will be in the Sanitaria Springs Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
