Online Obituaries

Mr. John Pufky

April 06, 1917 - June 19, 2010

John Pufky of Johnson City

John Pufky 93 fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday morning, June 19, 2010 at Bridgewater Center. A result of not listening to his daughter, Sandy, and while attempting to do his laundry had a fall which resulted in entertaining the staff for several months before exiting this lifetime peacefully in his sleep.
He was predeceased by his wife of fifty-six years, Maria in 2002, his parents Nicholas and Katherine, his brother, Mike, two sisters, Sophie and Anna, a nephew, Bob and a sister-in-law Ann.
John is survived by his daughter, Sandy Pufky of Los Angeles, CA, cousins, nieces and nephews of the Pufky and Bellardini families. Also his extended family including his fellow parishioners at St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, his mall walking buddies, his fishing friends, and his friends in LA and NZ.
John was the best dad ever, sometimes not so patient however when trying to teach his daughter how to drive a stick shift. He was a loving husband to Marie and the best-mashed potatoes maker at St. John’s Memorial Center.
He was an active of St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church and St. John’s Memorial Center. He was a retired employee of G.A.F. Corporation, Binghamton.
Lastly, to the best fly fisherman ever, an Army veteran of WWII in the North African, Sicilian and Italian Campaigns, I say, “rest in peace, Dad, I love you and give mom a hug.”
Sandy wishes to thank the staff at Bridgewater Center, Rosemary Pufky, Dennis Tchir, Chuck and Jane Ellsworth, Diane, Lindsey and Adam.
