Wasyl Krawecki 89years passed away peacefully on Friday morning, July 16, 2010.
He was predeceased by his parents Maria and John Krawecki, his beloved wife, Eugenia Krawecki in 2001 and his sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and John Rucky a brother: Mytro Krawecki in Poland and his precious great grandchild; Addison Eagan. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Anne and Barry Kinney of Binghamton and Mary Ann and Dennis Eagan of Conklin, a son and daughter-in-law; Joseph W. and Beth Krawecki Sr. of Vestal, NY, eight grandchildren; Mrs. Tim (Kelly) Hodge, Nathan Kinney, David (Lisa) Eagan, Sara Eagan and her friend, David Dickstein, Nicholas A.and Joseph W. Krawecki Jr., and Shannon and Derek Matolka He is also blessed with three great grandchildren, Collin and Morgan Hodge and Lauren Eagan. He is also survived by his brother; Stashko Krawecki, who resides in Poland, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, locally and in the Buffalo area.
Wasyl and his future wife, Eugenia, grew up in a small village in the Ukraine in the 1920’s. As teenagers, they were both pressed into a forced labor contingent bound for Germany during WWII. There, they spent several years being part of the slave labor force assigned to working in coal mines and surrounding farm areas as field hands. After Germany was liberated by the Allied Forces, he married his childhood sweetheart, Eugenia. Several years later, with their first born in tow, Anna, they sailed the Atlantic to their new home in the U.S. In short time, he found his way to Endicott Johnson and helped manufacture shoes. “Which Way E.J.? Every opportunity he had, the U.S. Flag was hung on his front porch with deep pride and respect.
His grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought a twinkle to his eyes. We also know, that the times spent hunting and fishing with his son, Joe and his nephew, Bohdan, were some of the most memorable.
He was a member of St. John Ukrainian Orthodox Church and a retired maintenance worker for Binghamton University.
His family extends heartfelt gratitude to all of the caretakers and support staff that displayed any friendship, caring, or kindness to our father over these many years. Rest assured, you brightened his days and ours.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:30am at St. John Ukrainian Orthodox Church 1 St. John’s Parkway, Johnson City with Rev. Father Zinoviy Zharsky officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Rev. Zharsky will conduct a prayer service Monday 6:30pm at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street Binghamton where the family will receive friends Monday 4-7pm.
