Mr. Henry Steven Chervenka

July 19, 1927 - June 29, 2010

Henry S. Chervenka 82 fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday evening June 29, 2010 at the Vestal Nursing Home.
He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-eight years Margaret Chervenka of Johnson City, his daughter Cathy and her husband Marcello DePersiis of Owego, his son Mark Chervenka and his wife Jeanette of Gilbert, AZ three grandchildren Christina and her husband Bill Haven, Brian DePersiis, and Henry J. Chervenka, and two sisters.
He was a member of Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church and Utica Club. He was a retired employee of the GAF Corporation, Binghamton. He was a Navy and Seabee veteran of WWII. He loved his family and nature.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Vestal Nursing Home along with Our Lady of Lourdes Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care given to Henry during his stay.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Friday 9am at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street Binghamton and 9:30am at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 54 Baxter Street Binghamton with Rev. Ilya Gotlinsky officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Gotlinsky will conduct a prayer service 7:30PM Thursday at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Thursday 5-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Henry’s memory to Parkinson’s Association, his church or to the charity of one’s choice.
