Mr. John Zeitz
September 19, 1917 - August 10, 2010
John Zeitz of Town of Maine John Zeitz 92 passed on into eternal life on Tuesday morning, August 10, 2010 at General Hospital.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Anna (Kahanec) Zeitz, four brothers, George , Michael, Charles and Frank Zeitz, a sister, Anna Fetcinkoand a son Albert G. Zeitz.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Theresa (Penna) Zeitz, two sons and daughters-in-laws John G. and Evelyn Zeitz of Frederick, MD and Michael P. and Debbie Zeitz of Town of Maine, a daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and Richard Stone of Town of Maine, six grandchildren, John (Debbie) Zeitz, Renee Zeitz, Jessica (Richard) Hartley, Nicholas Stone, Michael and Matthew Zeitz, four great grandsons, John and Connor Zeitz and Nathan and Joshua Hartley, his sister, Mary Juriga, and many nieces and nephews.
John loved and supported his family. From working at the family’s farm in his youth to helping build his children’s homes he was always there to show his love in many caring and thoughtful ways. Through his long and fruitful life, John was very well liked by many and will be remembered for his stories and humor.
He was a member of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Maine. He was a retired employee of the General Electric Corporation, Westover. He was an avid gardener, and he enjoyed the sunshine, earth and nature. In his youth, he worked with the Civil Conservation Corps in the Broome County area taking part in the planting of trees at Lily Lake, a.k.a. Chenango Valley State Park.
Funeral Information
A Funeral Mass will be offered by the Rev. Clarence Cerwonka on Saturday 9:30am at the Most Holy Rosary Church, 2596 Main Street, Maine where the family will receive friends on Saturday 9am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will also receive friends Friday 4-8pm at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street Binghamton.
