John Timko of Johnson City

John Timko, 87, loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Tuesday morning, December 23, 2008, in his hometown of Johnson City.
John is survived by his wife of sixty years, best friend and soul mate, Theresa Timko. He is also survived by his son, John; daughter-in-law, Maureen; grandson, Michael; his brother, Steven; and nieces and nephews, Susan and David Dawson, Anne and Tim Evans, and Lynne and David Swaim.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Seabees during WWII. Following his military service, John worked at ANSCO Corp. for many years, and later retired from employment at Broome Community College.
He was a gifted visual artist/painter and photographer. He was also a musician in a band that played at numerous weddings and events throughout the years. He never lost his sense of humor and could always make us laugh, no matter how difficult the challenges he faced.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Monday 9am at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, .Binghamton and 9:30am at St. Michael’s Greek Catholic Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton where a Divine Liturgy will be celebrated. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends Sunday 2-5pm at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home where a prayer service will be offered at 3pm.
