Edward Suer 79 fell asleep with the Lord on Sunday morning, August 2, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years; Rose (Gaydos) Suer, three sons; David Suer of Johnson City, Rick Suer and his wife, Michelle of Binghamton and Mark Suer and his wife, Ann Marie of Johnson City and his daughter; Debra and her husband, Alan Wahl of Mercer Island, WA, seven grandchildren: Andrea, Michael (Melissa) Suer, Amanda, Alina, Robert, Samantha, and Ming, two aunts; Pauline Buchta and Dee Perchinsky, three sisters and brothers-in-law; Mrs.Robert (MaryAnn) Nemconsky, Joyce Gaydos, Mrs. Anthony (Shirley) Milasi, nephews; Anthony, Michael and Alex, and his godchildren; Thomas Klodowski, Michael Milasi, Kera Dalton, Michelle Sycz, Jean Williams, and Colleen Whitney. Ed enjoyed his grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments and followed all of their activities.
He was a avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his cottage. He was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s Greek Catholic Church and a former altar boy. He proudly donated materials and labor to many of the church’s needs. He was the former owner of Cherokee Plate Glass, Johnson City for many years and built many buildings in and around New York. With his vision, he developed the hills on the North Side of Johnson City into a beautiful area of homes, businesses and school. This area is now named “Carpathian Hill” Ed’s ancestor’s homeland.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Johnson City American Legion Post #758. He was also a member of Local Glaziers’ Union #677.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will Thursday 9am at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street Binghamton and 9:30am at St. Michael’s Greek Catholic Church, 292 Clinton Street Binghamton where a Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko. Burial will be in parish cemetery. Rev. Dutko will conduct a prayer service 3pm Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9pm
