Luba “Lou” K. Squier of Johnson City

Luba K.”Lou” Squier 98 fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday morning, June 26, 2010 at the Susquehanna Nursing Home.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, three sisters and a brother.
She is survived by her daughter Beverly and her husband, Richard Roach of Johnson City, two granddaughters, Valerie and her husband Gregg Wright of Archbald, PA and Cindy and her husband Chuck Opeka of Endicott, four great grandchildren, Daniel (Joy) Wright, Alan Wright, Vincent Opeka, and Melissa Opeka, two great great grandchildren, Shania Cirba and D.J. Wright, many nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of Dormition of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church and past president of St. Mary’s Sisterhood. She was a retired employee of the Endicott-Johnson Corporation and a member of its twenty-five year club. She was a member of the Johnson City Seniors Center. Besides working at her church hall, Lou enjoyed baking, embroidering, playing uno, pinochle, and bingo, traveling with her family to PA and NJ and taking cruises to the Caribbean, the Mexican Rivera and Hawaii.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Susquehanna Nursing Home for their compassionate care given to Lou over the past eight years.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:30am at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street Binghamton and 10am at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church, 52 Baxter Street, Binghamton with the Rev. Ilya Gotlinsky officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5-8pm at the funeral home.
