Obituary for Anne Dervay

Johnson City - Anne Dervay, 90, of Johnson City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Anne was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Paul Dervay: two infant twin sons Duane and Paul; her parents Alec and Mary Yacura; her brother Joseph; sisters Mary, Helen, Verna, and Sue. She is survived by her daughters Paula (Gerard) Doyle and Nancy (Lawrence) Herb, son David (Iveta) Dervay, her sister, Pauline Kreczko, six grandchildren Laura Doyle, Meredith (Joseph) Muldoon, Philip Doyle, Larry Herb, Kristina Herb and John Herb; two great grandsons, Joseph and Finn Muldoon; in-laws Helen Demetry, Joseph (Mary) Dervay, and Rosemary (John) Pipta; and many nieces and nephews across the country.
Anne will be remembered for her gentle, loving spirit. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed any occasion to be with them. Her church, St. Michael’s, was in many ways a second home and family to Anne and her family. She loved spending time tending to her gardens. May her flowers continue to grow. She was a stay at home mom while her children were young. Later she enjoyed working as a banquet waitress.
Anne spent her entire life in the Triple Cities but enjoyed traveling and encouraged her family to do it while they can. Until recently, she spent her long life in the home her husband, Paul built. Anne’s family is very grateful to her wonderful caretakers (Sandy, Kathy, Ann, and Mary) who looked after her in her elderly years.
The family will receive friends Saturday 9-11am at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton followed by a funeral service offered by The Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko. Burial will be in the parish cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Anne’s memory to St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, or to the charity of one’s choice.
