Obituary for Lillian K. Nezelek

Lillian (Kachur) Nezelek, 83 years, fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday afternoon, December 23, 2017, at her home.
Lillian was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Anna (Sherba) Kachur.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Church. Lillian was a retired physical education teacher, cheerleading coach and guidance counselor for the Binghamton Central School District and was honored in 1999 with a Distinguished Graduate Award. She was also named as an Inroads Educator of the Year. She was an alumna of Woodrow Wilson School, graduate of Binghamton Central, received her bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and her Masters in Guidance from Colgate University.
Lillian is survived by cousins, her “Secret Six” group and her caring friends, including Michael and Dolores Kundrat and family, her neighbor, Carol Oestrich and her aide, Rhonda, whom gave Lillian the ability of staying at her home.
She will be greatly missed by the many students and people whom she touched.
A Divine Liturgy and funeral service will be celebrated by Protopresbyter James Dutko on Friday at 10am at St. Michael’s Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton where visitation will be from 9-10am. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either St. Michael’s Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
