Obituary for Mr. Walter Fedorchak

Walter Fedorchak of Johnson City

Walter Fedorchak, 91 fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday morning, July 8, 2017. Born in Jermyn, PA on November 12, 1925 as the youngest boy of eleven children, he was predeceased by his mother and father, Julia and Thaddaeus (Teddy) Fedorchak; by his six brothers, Steven, Michael, John, Very Rev. Nicholas, Peter and Joseph; his sister Ann; brother-in-laws, John, Peter, Joseph and Nicholas; and sister-in-laws, Anna, Elizabeth, Helen, Irene, Helen and Sandra.

He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-four years, Martha (Strosky) Fedorchak, Johnson City; and two sons, James Fedorchak and his wife Lynn and their children Mark and Nicole; and Theodore Fedorchak and his wife Kathleen and their children Gregory, Kyle and Matthew; three sisters Mary, Irene and Tillie, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Walter graduated from Archbald High School and worked as a salesman for Allen's Clothing Store. He preached that 'you have to go and get it' and did this by relocating to upstate NY to create the best possible opportunities for his family. Walter always put others first and spent his career caring for their safety and well-being. He accomplished this first as an Aviation Radioman in the United States Navy, and later as an employee of IBM Owego, Loral, and Lockheed Martin, where he worked for 35 years in Plant Protection and Security, concluding his career as a Security Specialist.

Walter enjoyed the simple things in life: reading good books, exercising at the YMCA, and watching the New York Yankees with his beloved wife, Martha.

Faith and family were everything to Walter. He loved attending the Divine Liturgy and praying incessantly. He was a member of Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, which was fitting given his special love for Christ's mother.

Nothing gave Walter more joy than watching his children and grandchildren thrive. His drive, discipline and sense of humor live on through them.

The Fedorchak family extends their gratitude to the caring and dedicated staff at Good Shepherd Fairview Rehab Center, Wilson Hospital's North Tower 3 and Bridgewater Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral Information

The family will receive friends Wednesday 9am at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 54 Baxter Street, Binghamton followed by a Funeral Service at 10am with Very Rev. Myron Oryhon officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
