Stella J. Urban, Vestal, N.Y.
Mrs. Stella J. Urban, 103, of Vestal, NY passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. She was born on November 21, 1914, in Angels, Pa. to her parents, the late Waclav and Michalina (Kiczlo) Piesecki. She was predeceased by her husband Sylvester Urban (1951); two brothers, John Piesecki, Lake Como, Pa., and Joseph Piesecki, Moscow, Pa.; several sisters, Mary Ustenovich and Rose Donnini, Dunmore, Pa., Lottie Zak and Juliana Hoffman, both of Garfield, NJ, Helen Olsheski, Rochester, Josephine Ciesla and Sophie Sepko. She is survived by a brother Eugene Piesecki, Manning, S.C. and a sister Ann Kropelnitski of Wayne, NJ; her five children, Charlotte Urban, Jeanne Urban, Frank (Sylvia) Urban of Vestal, N.Y., Robert (Suzanne) Urban, Waverly, N.Y., and Marie (Joseph) Stupak, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was a former member of St. Pius X Church in Royal, Pa. She was employed by the Grove Silk Mill, Scranton, Pa., the Urban Brother’s Lumber Mill, Dundaff, Pa., Dr. John Niles, Crystal Lake, Pa. and at the Country Store in Dundaff, Pa. She had a calm, pleasant demeanor and always put others before herself. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. She made the best pizza, fruit cake, and lemon pie. She enjoyed oil painting, watching the “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy,” going to yard sales, feeding her chipmunk, and playing bingo with her family. Most importantly, she liked being with her children and grandchildren.
Stella was very thankful for the special care she received at the Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially the 3rd/4th floor staff and the rehabilitation and social services staff during her stay there.
A Funeral Mass will be offered by Monsignor Patrick Pratico on Monday 1t 10:30am at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1080 Carmalt Street, Dickson City, PA. Burial will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dickson City, Pa.
