JOHNSON CITY – Lloyd Watson Perkins, father, law enforcement officer, Scoutmaster, and husband of Helen Teresa Perkins passed away at his home in Johnson City, New York on July 24, 2018. He was 80. Lloyd was born in Norwich, New York on July 2, 1938. He was predeceased by his parents, Flossie and Donald A. Perkins. He is survived by his wife Helen Teresa Perkins, [former wife Marleta (Smith) Anderson (Newark Valley)], son Donald L. Perkins, and daughter-in-law Lori (Swarts) Perkins, grandson Daniel Perkins (Johnson City), son Enoch Perkins, and daughter-in-law Debbie (Perry) Perkins, grandchildren Kelly and Eric Perkins (Berkshire), and step-daughter Deborrah Stanley Hoag (Jacksonville, Fl), and sister Cheryl (Perkins) Kellogg and husband Edward Kellogg and Niece Kecia (Kellogg) and Robert Degroodt (Walden, NY). He was a reservist in the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, Broome County Sheriff’s Deputy, Chief of Police, Town and Village of Newark Valley, owner of ABC Party Tent Rental, and a Distribution Manager of the Auto Shopper paper in Central Florida. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 211 at the Endwell United Methodist Church as a youth, and as a Neighborhood Commissioner, and later Scoutmaster of Troop 102 in Johnson City and Troop 30 of Newark Valley. He was a member of Owego Rotary, Northern Tioga Jaycees, and participated in other civic organizations and activities. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dade City, and Endwell United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton, NY on Saturday, August 4 at 4 p.m. Rev. Mark Kimpland will officiate. Burial will be at a later time. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service. Attendees are asked to write down their remembrances and memories that they would like to share about Lloyd and his contribution to their lives. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Baden Powell Council, Boy Scouts of America www.bpcouncil.org.
