Mildred Chopyak Scheider of Endwell

Mildred Chopyak Scheider, 89 years entered into eternal rest on July12, 2018 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Susan (Boyko) Chopyak.
She was predeceased by her husbands; William Edward Scheider of thirty-eight years and Lt. Col. Robert H. Uskurait U.S.M.C. (ret.) of seven years.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; William Joseph and Nikki Ann Scheider of Johnson City and James Jay and Kathy Scheider of Erie, PA, three grandchildren; Leigh Ann Scheider of NJ; Kate (Spencer) Powlison and William H. Scheider of CO and several cousins.
She was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School, attended Harpur College and graduated from the American Academy of Mortuary Science in New York City. She received her New York State Funeral Director License in 1950.
She joined her mother in operating the Chopyak Funeral Home and later the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, Inc. with her son until she retired in 1984.
She was a life long member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church and a member and former President, Vice-President and Treasurer of St. Michael’s Ladies Guild.
She was a former member of the Broome County Funeral Directors Association, New York State Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Triple Cities Professional Women’s Club, and the Endwell Garden Club.
She was also a Paul Harris Fellow (Rotary International)
She enjoyed her condominium in Bay Island South Pasadena, FL for eighteen years where she was secretary and president of the Yorktown Building Association.
After retiring, she traveled extensively to many countries and cities that she read about.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 3-7pm at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton where a funeral service will be offered at 6:30pm by Very Rev. Michael Kleban and Rev. Timm Holowatch. A Divine Liturgy will be concelebrated by Very Revs. Michael Kleban and Alexey Karlgut and other clergy on Wednesday 10am at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 292 Clinton St, Binghamton. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Millie’s memory to either St. Michael’s Cemetery Fund or to the Binghamton Breakfast Rotary Foundation P.O. Box 2302, Binghamton, NY 13902-2302.
