Obituary for William Malinich

William Malinich fell asleep on Sunday, December 30, 2018 five days short of his 96th birthday. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary and son, William Jr., two brothers and a sister-in-law, Walter (Nita) and George, two sisters and three brothers- in-law, John Spadaro, Olga and Paul Belchyk, Julia and Walter Solyan and a nephew, Mark Solyan.
Survived by his brother, Frank and his wife, Marsha Malinich Jr. his sister, Vera Spadaro, his sisters-in-law, Faith Malinich and Anne Naylor, nieces, Sharon, Darlene, Tammy, Paulette, Kathy, Lara and Neena, and nephews, Sasha, Tim and John.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Orthodox. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a retired employee of the I.B.M. Corporation, Endicott. He was an avid numismatist, and he enjoyed golfing and rooting for the New York Yankees and Giants.
A funeral service will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko on Friday at 9:30am St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton. Burial will be at the parish cemetery. Rev. Dutko will conduct a prayer service 4:30pm Thursday at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton where the family will receive friends 3-5pm.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff on UHS Johnson City South Tower Two and the hospice nurses.
