Kathryn Solak Macko of Binghamton

Kathryn Solak Macko of Binghamton fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday August 27, 2017 at Wilson Hospital.

Kathryn was born on November 14, 1926 to Charles and Helen Solak. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-nine years, Joseph A. Macko and seven siblings; Helen, Margaret, John, and Andrew Solak, Mary Sinicki, Ann Wylam and Julia Bellnier.

She is survived by a special nephew, Andrew Solak, a special niece, Juliann (Todd) Covert, nieces, Rosine Ranken and Maureen Sinicki, nephews, John, Michael and Charles Solak, George (Kathleen) Macko and Mark (Sherri) Macko, many great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and dear friends, Helen Ballus and Michael and Shelley Kaminsky.

The family wishes to thank her dear friend and nurse practitioner, Kristen for her compassionate care.

Kathryn was a member of St. Michaels Greek Catholic Church. She was a retired registered nurse, working in the operating room at UHS, Johnson City and the Binghamton School District. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf, tennis and bowling.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday at St. Michaels Greek Catholic Church, 292 Clinton Street, Binghamton with the Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko officiating. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. The family will then have a repast at the recreation center following the committal service.
